Mole & Cyst Removal
Both men and women can choose to have a mole or cyst removed; both moles and cysts are extremely common and can be unsightly or inconveniently positioned. If people have moles on the face they may feel the need to consult a cosmetic surgeon as, obviously, they will be more concerned about scarring in this area and want it to be as minimal as possible. Highly skilled cosmetic surgeons have the expertise and experience to produce clean, neat and precise results.
Moles and cysts are removed with a scalpel and patients undergoing these procedures will be left with some form of scarring. However, scars resulting from this procedure will be small and will fade over time and the scarring is usually less noticeable then the mole / cyst being removed.
Patients can visit their GP for mole and cyst removal and, in many cases; these professionals are be able to perform the required surgery. However, the resultant scarring of this procedure may be slightly bigger and more obvious then scarring that would result from cosmetic surgeon's work.
Although most moles are healthy and benign (harmless) the surgeon may request that the patient has a histology report to check that the mole being removed is harmless. This report can be requested by patients also if they would like peace of mind.
A local anaesthetic will be used first to numb the area being treated and will be dressed afterwards for healing purposes. Patients should be able to return to work the next day as this procedure is performed as a day case and only takes around 30 minutes.
