Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a medically proven method to reduce or permanently remove hair. It can be performed on both men and women and is a non-invasive, effective and safe hair removal solution. The treatment successfully reduces hair density in the long-term as well as hair growth whilst causing minimal discomfort.

During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to individual hair follicles. The laser beam first sources the hair follicle by detecting its melanin (melanin is the dark pigmentation in the hair). Then it directs the laser beam at the root of the hair to destroy it. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth.

The ideal candidate for this procedure is someone who has light coloured skin and dark hair as the laser requires dark pigment present in some hairs to locate hair follicles. Therefore, this treatment is not effective for white, blonde or grey hair.

Patients can expect a 60 – 95% reduction of hair after the recommended number of treatments. This treatment is also effective on ingrown hairs, there is no down time and the treatment itself is quick and virtually painless.

Cost:

A course of around 6 treatments is usually recommended and patients can expect to pay around £100 per session depending on the size of the area being treated.
