Facelift Cosmetic Surgery

The facelift is an extremely popular tried and tested procedure that 'winds the clock back' by reversing the effects of gravity - refreshing the face, improving the contour of the neck, removing the heavy, tired look and revitalising the face.

In both men and women the incision used in facelift surgery is the same; starting high in the temple area (hidden by the hair at this point) the incision travels down in front of the ear, round the earlobe and up behind the ear before curving gently back into the hair at the neck. Occasionally it is necessary to add an incision under the chin also. Using these incisions, the skin and deep tissues are remodelled and re-draped and the area is stitched into place. The surgeon usually then applies a head bandage in order to pressurise (gently) the incisions during the post operative night.

Patients will be required to wear a support head garment for the week following surgery or until stitches are removed. The surgeon will then advise if patients should continue wearing the support garment but if they do suggest this, they usually recommend that patients only wear it at night.

Patients should not wash their hair until after their 5 – 10 day check up because if the scars from incisions get wet, this may slow down the healing process. Again the nurse or surgeon will advise on these precautionary measures.

Stitches are usually removed between five and ten days after facelift surgery. Normally, the only scarring visible is in front of the ear; this scar can be covered by make-up during the healing process but will normally fade to a natural skin colour and texture over the months following the procedure.

If possible, patients are recommended to take 10-14 days off work to allow time to recover during the post-operative period.

Surgery consultation

All patients wishing to undergo the abdominoplasty procedure will be expected to have a consultation with the surgeon performing the operation. This consultation provides a chance for the patient and surgeon to discuss individual needs and expectations in order to clarify realistic goals. Any questions that the patient may have can also be answered during this process.

Cost £5,000 - £8,500
