Dental bonding
Most cosmetic dentists will perform dental bonding also. This is an option that can be considered:
- To repair decayed teeth (composite resins are used to fill cavities)
- To repair chipped or cracked teeth
- To improve the appearance of discolored teeth
- To close spaces between teeth
- To make teeth look longer
- To change the shape of teeth
- As a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings
- To protect a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed when gums recede
A composite resin is placed in either the back or front teeth to fill in areas which have become decayed, allowing for cosmetic improvement in the look of the teeth. It can also be used to close minor gaps and can be used to correct crooked teeth. A high-intensity light will harden the plastic and finely polish the surface.
